Sixteen RTC ramblers gathered at Whiteabbey car park on Saturday 7th May 2011. We tramped up to Carnmoney Hill and followed the gentle path up to a platform seat where we partook of elevenses, at eleven thirty- but no matter, the views blinded us to all but the lovely scenes across to Holywood Hills and beyond and to Knockagh on the other side. We really had a birds- eye view all around and to the ferry bringing tourists and repatriating our homegrown one's up the Lough to Belfast Docks - a very relaxing sight.
A short distance on up we came across our two acres of wild Bluebells, the object of our pursuit. They were a treat to behold in their world famous site, yes true. After admiring and photographing them in all their glory we moved on and down to the THREEMILEWATER RIVER PARK where our pic-nic lunch was much enjoyed.
After lunch we soon were in Monkstown Village and picked up a gentle winding path through Monkstown Woods and came across an awesome bridge constructed in 1933, 70? feet high, which takes the trains to Portrush (left) and Larne (right). No Sampson was in our party so the pillars remain standing. On we went and arrived in Whiteabbey (the circle completed) where Maude served us refreshments, otherwise known as Maud's Ice Cream Parlour and Cafe.
Another enjoyable "RTC" ramble to store in our memory bank.
